Kofta is a Middle Eastern recipe of any sort of ground meat. Kofta kebab is generally ground beef with bulghur formed into skewers and grilled.
Grilled ground beef is spiced up and flavored to get more exotic and interesting than your same old meatballs. Grilled pan-fried or baked in oven, this kofta turns out great no matter the method you use to cook it. It's crowd-pleaser and kid-friendly all year long
Ingredients
2 lbs ground beef
1-2 medium onion finely grated
2 teaspoons salt or to taste
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon mixed spices
1 hotdog bun or baked bread
Method
In a deep bowl soak a bun or baked bread in plain water or in onion water if you have some for a matter of minutes until it softens.
Squeeze the water out as much as you can and discard the water. Add all the ingredients together in a separate bowl.
Mix them well together by hand for at least 10 minutes. You can also use the mortar and pestle to do the mixing or a food processor.
Mix well until the mixture is smooth.
Shape the meat mixture on your skewers. Lay them on a baking sheet or any oven safe dish. (You can freeze them to firm them up).
Cover the kofta with aluminum foil and cook in a 350F preheated oven for 10-15 minutes.
While the koftas are cooking in the oven, fire up your grill on high and grease your rack well for cooling.
Remove the aluminum foil from the cooked kofta and place them on the grill for 5minutes or until browned on all sides.
Transfer grilled kofta on to the rack for cooling.
Enjoy with your choice of side dish or hot pepper sauce
